I know Father's Day was yesterday, so I really shouldn't be making a comment now. But i'm in a weird mood. I get in a weird mood usually around all holidays. My father left the summer before I started 6th grade. He promised that he would be there on my first day of middle school and he never showed up. Turns up he ended up running from the cops because he didn't want to pay child support. Some dad.



I'll be a senior this year. He's missed me go to middle school, graduate middle school, and going to high school. He's missed my first date, my first boyfriend, my first prom. Wasn't there when I needed to talk about my first "heartbreak", the first time I had sex, or how glad I felt that i've made the soccer team every year i've tried out for it. Wasn't there to give me advice about the screw up i've made or tell me its going to be ok, or help me with schoolwork. In his absence I have found my first love, who was my first boyfriend, and who I'm still dating and am now talking about finding a house a year or two from now. He's going to miss me graduate and go to college. He's going to miss my excitement when I get accepted into college and my hard work to pay for it. He's missed me driving for the first time and getting a car. He missed the day I was given a promise ring. He's missed so many things. I probably wouldn't feel so bitter about it if it couldn't have been avoided but it could have. He eventually got caught in his run from the law and served time in the florida state prison. I went into the prison's files online and looked him up and his information. The photo I saw of him that they had was the first time that I had seen him in 3 years. He has since got out of prison and at first made good attempts to call my brother and I and keep in touch. Though he never once came to see us. After about six months even the calls stopped. I haven't heard from him in almost 2 years. After all the hell I went through because of him should I really want to see him ever again? Probably not. But I do. More than words can say. Not to love on him and say I forgive him. But to show him all that I have accomplished WITHOUT him. Without the help of really anybody. My mother hasn't helped me. She won't pay for anything, and barely even speaks to me anymore. When  I can't come up with the money to pay for something my boyfriend steps in and helps. Which is sad. But its just another thing that reminds me how lucky I am to have him. So. yesterday, on Fathers day. Instead of celebrating with my own "family". I spent the day with his. 2 sets of grandparents and his parents, all of whom are already planning on being there for my graduation in the upcoming year. They are the ones that are going to be there. I'm not as angry as I use to be about everything that has happened. I'm more disappointed now than anything else.

  

I'm not trying to extricate pity from anyone. I just needed to get some of my thoughts out.
